Importing WordPress posts, pages and custom post types
Importing WordPress posts, pages and custom post types are made simple with ImportWP allowing you to easily select the post type that you want to import, the xml or csv file that you want to import, then enabling only the fields that you want to import from such fields as Title, content, excerpt, slug, categories, tags, custom taxonomies, attachments, and any custom fields registered by your theme or plugins. Each of these fields allow you to easily select the matching element or elements from your file using the visual data selection tool to create the output required, once selected you can preview how your selection will look.
Import WordPress attachments
Attachments have there own section within the post type importer template, this section allows you to import as many files as needed, multiple attachments can be imported with a delimiter value, or by entering each on a seperate attachment row. Each attachment row can be setup to fetch files and images via Remote Urls, Your Websites filesystem, or from a Remote FTP Server.
Import Categories, Tags, and Custom Taxonomies
Taxonomies also have there own section within the post type importer tempalte, this section allows you to choose the taxonomy you want to attach to the post type by selecting it from a dropdown, or you can enable a text input to manually enter or select using the visual data selector tool. Taxonomy terms can be imported by using the csv or xml visual data selector tool to select the element or elements, During import if terms do not exist then they will be created.
Import custom fields
Custom fields can be import when using ImportWP PRO, a new section will appear allowing you to import any custom fields that have been added by your theme or plugins, these fields have either import raw text content, or import attachments via Remote FTP, Remote URL or from your Websites filesystem where you can configure the value that is stored in the custom field such as attachment id , url or serialized value.
ImportWP Post Type importer templategives you control to only enable what fields you want to import, but if this is not enough you can configure if a record can be inserted, updated or deleted via the permissions tab of the importer. With the Insert and Update permissions you have granular control over what fields can be imported or not imported.
Schedule or run post types Import
Once your post type importer is setup, you can either run the import straight away where you will see the import progress as it happens, or you can schedule the import to run on an hourly, daily, weekly or monthly interval, this can come in handy if you are importing from a feed or external management tool such as google sheets.
Post Type importer history
A log of each insert, update or delete can be accessed via the history tab of the importer, where you can drill down into each import to see its status, how long it took.
