Suppliers ship a ZIP. Inside is the CSV or XML your WooCommerce or CPT importer actually needs. Unzipping on a laptop and re-uploading is how nightly drops get skipped. The Import WP ZIP archive add-on extracts the payload and runs the mapped importer in one flow.
Free add-on. Remote fetch on a schedule needs Import WP Pro.
Import a ZIP CSV into WordPress
Upload the archive, or point at a URL / path that is a .zip. Import WP extracts it, finds the CSV (or the file you select), and continues as a normal CSV import: visual column mapping, unique keys, permissions.
That is a compressed product feed import for vendors who only publish catalogue.zip. Combine with the WooCommerce product importer or any core template. You do not maintain a separate “unzip then import” cron on the server.
Extract an XML feed from a ZIP
Same add-on, XML inside. Use it when the nested catalogue is too large for email and arrives compressed. After extract, mapping is the XML product feed (or any XML-capable template) workflow.
BLM is a special case: .blm plus a media ZIP with the same basename — that is the BLM importer, not this generic ZIP reader.
Import compressed supplier feeds on a schedule (Pro)
Typical production setup:
- Vendor drops
feed.zipon FTP or HTTPS - Import WP fetches the ZIP
- ZIP add-on extracts CSV/XML
- Product, ACF, or CPT template runs
- Unchanged rows are skipped
Use unique identifiers so a new ZIP updates the catalogue. If the archive contains .xlsx instead of CSV, chain the XLSX reader.
One importer extracts the archive and runs the mapped template — you do not need an unzip script plus a second cron. Install / setup.
