Cookie policy
Last updated 17 September 2026. This policy explains the cookies and similar technologies used on importwp.com, including Google Analytics.
This site is operated by Import WP at www.importwp.com (“we”, “us”). It is a marketing and documentation site for the Import WP WordPress importer. This policy covers cookies and similar storage on this website only.
Checkout, WordPress.org downloads, and the helpdesk are separate services with their own cookies. See Freemius checkout, wordpress.org, and helpdesk.importwp.com.
Your choice
The site works without analytics cookies. On your first visit we ask whether we may use Google Analytics. Reject and Accept analytics are equally available. We do not set Google Analytics cookies, and we do not load Google’s tag, until you accept.
We remember that choice in your browser (see below). You can change it at any time with Cookie settings in the footer, or the button on this page.

We store one preference in localStorage (not a cookie) so we do not ask you on every page load:

The site does not require login cookies, advertising cookies, or a cookie for the shopping cart. Product checkout happens on Freemius.
Analytics (only if you accept)
If you accept, we load Google Analytics 4 with Google’sgtag.js tag from www.googletagmanager.com, using our Measurement ID. Google LLC is the provider. Analytics storage is set to granted; advertising storage, ad user data, and ad personalisation stay denied. We also disable Google signals and ad personalisation signals in the tag config.
Google Analytics 4 does not log IP addresses as a stored field. We use it to see aggregated traffic: which pages are viewed, approximate location/device, and (on the thank-you page after a completed purchase, and only if you already accepted) a purchase event with Freemius payment details already present in the URL.

These cookies are first-party on www.importwp.com (and the registrable domain, depending on the browser). The tag also makes requests to Google domains such as www.google-analytics.com andwww.googletagmanager.com.

What we do not use on this site
- Advertising, remarketing, or conversion-linker cookies from Google Ads
- Facebook, TikTok, or similar pixels
- Hotjar, Microsoft Clarity, or other session-replay tools
- A cookie wall that blocks reading the docs until you accept
Third-party sites you may leave for
Links to Freemius checkout, wordpress.org, and the Import WP helpdesk go to those operators. They may set their own cookies. That is outside this policy.
Legal basis (UK GDPR / PECR)
Storing or accessing analytics cookies on your device needs consent under the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR). Google Analytics, if you accept, is also processed as usage analytics under UK GDPR on the basis of that consent. You can withdraw it with Cookie settings. Rejecting analytics does not affect using the site.
The consent preference itself is stored so we can comply with that choice.
How to control cookies in your browser
You can also delete cookies and site data in your browser settings. Blocking all cookies may affect other websites. Clearing storage will removeiwp-analytics-consent, so we will ask again on the next visit.
